A Cotacachi leather armchair by Angel Pazmino in very good condition, featuring dark leather and a teak frame. The thick leather seat features an Inca motif embossed into the leather. These motifs vary on almost every armchair. The frame is very sturdy and, like the leather, shows minimal signs of wear. All joints are present and fit perfectly. The brutalist lines and simplicity of the construction of these armchairs remain striking to this day.
Designer and manufacturer Angel Pamino is considered a leading representative of mid-century Andean modernism. His chairs and armchairs have been presented as gifts to various heads of government around the world. He has since become an icon of furniture design.
This chair was made in Ecuador in the 1960s.
