This Haimi swivel chair is a classic example of Space Age style in both color and materials. The fiberglass shell of the seat shows slight signs of wear along the edges, but no damage. The back of the seat features distinctive fins that enhance its appearance and provide stability. The cushion is made of orange, metallic-shimmering plastic fibers, which darken in some places depending on the light. The solid stainless steel star base shows minimal patina and still features its original casters.
The Finnish manufacturer Haimi was one of the most famous manufacturers of its time and produced, under license, designs by Marcel Breuer, Joe Colombo, and Tobia Scarpa, among others. Haimi produced from 1943 to 1980. Haimi's main designer was the Finn Yrjö Kukkapuro.
