It doesn't get more 70s than this. This Strässle Lotus lounge chair is upholstered in a fantastic 70s velvet fabric. The chair is in very good condition. The delicate fiberglass shells show no cracks or major signs of wear, with only a small chip of paint on the back of the chair. The shells are a chocolate brown color, which, typical of the period, is combined with bright colors ranging from purple to orange in the velvet fabric. The fabric is in excellent condition. This chair is an icon of the Space Age and the 70s and is much more a sculpture than a piece of seating.

French designer Andre Vandebeuck designed this chair in 1969 for the top Swiss manufacturer Strässle. He worked for many years in automotive design for Porsche, Bugatti, Facel Vega, and others before turning his attention to furniture design. This dynamism is evident in the lines of the Lotus chair.
