This Wilkhahn 232 office chair is a worthy representative of the Space Age. The white plastic shells are in perfect condition and without damage. The backrest can be continuously adjusted using the chrome lever under the seat. The chair still features its original chrome casters and is easy to move. The aluminum base shows minimal signs of wear. The chair is swiveling and has been reupholstered in an orange hopsack fabric.
More than 100 years ago, the Wilkhahn company was founded by Friedrich Hahne and Christian Wilkening as a chair factory. In 1946, contact was established with the Deutsche Werkstätten (German Workshops) and designers Georg Leowald and Herbert Hirche, who worked in the Bauhaus tradition. Since then, Wilkhahn has been one of the premium manufacturers of office furniture. The German designer Wilhelm Ritz designed this chair for Wilkhahn in 1972, creating a bestseller.
